Clarifying What DaDesktop Is Not

DaDesktop is software that doesn't yet fit neatly into any single category. Often, it's easier to understand what it is by first explaining what it isn't and how it stands apart.

Online Conference

Is DaDesktop Online Conference software like Zoom or Teams?

Normally, you'd need to rely on Zoom, Teams, Skype, or WeChat alongside DaDesktop.

DaDesktop might eventually get built-in conferencing features, but that's not a priority at the moment.

What is similar between let us say Zoom and DaDesktop?

Both provide basic chat functionality.

Public Cloud

Is DaDesktop like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure or Aliyun?

Public cloud platforms are designed for hosting applications. DaDesktop, in contrast, is built for people to use remote desktops.

What is similar between AWS and DaDesktop?

From a user's perspective, the two have very little in common. Both allow you to access a remote machine and run software, but that's where the overlap ends. AWS EC2 is tailored for system administrators, whereas DaDesktop is purpose-built for training participants, instructors, course coordinators, and management.

Some organizations still use AWS or other clouds for remote course delivery, although a typical public cloud tends to be more expensive, slower, and less convenient than DaDesktop. DaDesktop is designed specifically for course delivery, not general-purpose computing.

Learning Management System (LMS)

Is DaDesktop like Moodle, Rise UP, Open edX or other LMS?

LMS platforms typically focus on facilitating education—think university courses—or are built for online self-paced learning. DaDesktop, however, is currently designed for instructor-led corporate training. Its primary audience includes corporate employees, government workers, and similar professionals. It isn't specifically aimed at school or university students.

DaDesktop is centered on an instructor-led approach to course delivery, with the instructor present in real time.

What is similar between LMS and DaDesktop?

DaDesktop offers a range of features that overlap with LMS capabilities and even go beyond them.

With DaDesktop, a course administrator can enroll students, track attendance, gauge engagement, verify connections, and even record screens during the session.

It does all this in a largely automated way. For instance, trainers don't need to manually check attendance—the data is logged in the system. DaDesktop records user location, connection duration, which exercises were completed, which were skipped, and so on.

Participants who missed the course can watch recordings and practice in an identical environment as those who attended live.
