While DaDesktop primarily delivers virtual desktops, there are scenarios that demand the power of physical hardware. With the bare metal option, each participant is assigned a dedicated physical desktop or server, all managed seamlessly through the DaDesktop platform.
Dedicated Physical Machines
Rather than sharing virtualized resources, each user is provisioned with their own exclusive physical device.
Remote Classroom Management
Integrate existing physical classrooms into DaDesktop to oversee and control the machines from a distance, eliminating the need for on-site presence.
When you need bare metal
- When deploying software that is incompatible with virtualization, such as ONAP or OpenStack.

How it works
Every physical machine is linked to a DaDesktop node using a control cable known as ddnexus. To initiate this setup, select the "Metal PC" option when configuring a standalone or fresh-start desktop. The environment is then deployed directly onto the physical hardware.
PC Farm
You can repurpose existing office desktops to function as bare metal nodes. In this ecosystem, each individual physical desktop is referred to as a potato. The central server responsible for managing these units is known as a pumpkin (also referred to as the DaDesktop node or ddnode). The USB cable that connects each potato to the pumpkin is called a potato stalk.
