FAQs (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Since MS Excel functions are needed)
- No, MS Office is not provided within DD (Windows 10 and 11 Pro). The platform supplies a DD virtual machine and a dedicated training room.
- Trainers should prepare a free-trial MS Office account for all delegates.
- Otherwise, participants can use their own MS Office accounts.
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Yes, we've provided an easy way to upload files from your local machine to the DD desktop (see guide). A minor limitation is that currently only one file can be transferred at a time. However, you can simply package all your needed files into a ZIP archive and transfer that to your DaDesktop machine in one go.
- If you use cloud storage, remember to log out before cloning the environment to all delegates.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- In Chrome, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and disable hardware acceleration.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No, the Terms and Conditions at this link specify that trainers cannot access the wiki.
- To suggest edits for the NobleProg wiki, copy the text and email it to the trainer (a PDF is also acceptable).
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Please whitelist domains matching this pattern:
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?
- First, the trainer can select and configure the DD specifications (RAM, CPU, disk).
- Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to create multiple virtual machines and set up networking among them.
- Once everything is ready, you can clone the setup to delegates in seconds.
- For assistance, get in touch with DaDesktop Support.
7. What is the server capacity?
- It depends on the server hardware.
- For example, 512 GB of RAM can be oversubscribed up to three times its physical capacity.
- Each server provides a maximum of 250 GB disk, 16 CPU threads per desktop, and flexible RAM configuration.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three dots on the right side of the video player.
- Audio is included in the video if you used the training room audio.
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly.
- Older browsers like Internet Explorer are not fully supported.
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- Check your internet connection—DaDesktop performance is tied to your local network speed.
- Verify the server location: when the coordinator sets up the desktop, they always select a server close to participants in Italy.
- Turn off any VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Also, disable security applications that might interfere with WebSocket operations, which are essential for smooth DaDesktop usage.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Remote desktop access depends on WebSocket
- The problem could be on your device. Look for settings that block WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, if you find a proxy setting labeled "Use the same proxy for all protocols" enabled, WebSocket fails (because it forces the SOCKS host through a proxy). Uncheck that and leave the SOCKS host blank to fix it.
- The issue might also be at the network level. Contact your network administrator to request WebSocket be unblocked.
12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?
- Refer to the GPU support page for full details.
13. Is there any potential issues or answers?
- Using DaDesktop is typically like using any ordinary Windows or Linux machine. However, a few minor issues can arise with certain software applications during training, especially when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily due to licensing restrictions.
