Managing Your Operating System Templates
Naming Rules for OS Templates
Only lowercase letters and dashes are permitted when naming templates.
You must stick to this convention to ensure the system can properly sort and categorize templates.
<os>
Do not include any dash within the <os> portion.
<key><number>
Examples:
centos8
debian12
win10
ubuntu2404
ubuntu2204
<template>
<os>-template-v<number>
Examples:
debian12-template-v21
ubuntu2204-template-v17
kali-template-v2
<dd4w>
dd4w-tpl-lxc-<os>-v<number>
dd4w-tpl-kvm-<os>-v<number>
Every dd4w template name must start with 'dd4w-'. For example:
dd4w-tpl-kvm-win10-v5
dd4w-tpl-lxc-ubuntu2204-v2
Distribution
In this section, you can copy, delete, or compare all the OS templates you have across your cloud environment. Keep in mind that moving many templates at once may affect network performance and your overall experience. It's best to carry out copy operations outside peak hours.
Bulk Removal of OS Templates
A newly added feature enables you to delete templates from multiple servers simultaneously. What used to be a slow and tedious process is now remarkably quick and straightforward.
- Simply pick a server containing the template you need, then select 'Remove from .. ' (the 'Remove' option only removes a single template at a time)
- You'll see a list showing only the servers that have that exact template
- Check the boxes next to the servers from which you'd like to delete the template
-
Click 'Submit' and confirm the action—the templates will then be removed
