GPU Reservations

Training Coordinators can assign guaranteed GPU resources to courses through GPU reservations. This ensures that enrolled courses take precedence over general requests for GPU compute hardware, securing the necessary infrastructure for smooth training and lab operations.

 

Follow the process below to establish a GPU reservation for a course:

Navigate to the Desktops tab on the course page and select the blue button located beneath the Video conference option, labeled "Reserve GPU".

 

A prompt will then appear to collect the necessary details for your GPU request.

Start by defining the location, which defaults to "Anywhere".

If you know which city is closest to the participants, you can refine the search by selecting "Within distance from city" and entering the location manually.

For a broader geographic scope, choose "Others..." instead.

When the location settings meet your needs, click "Continue" to proceed to the "Per desktop" section, where you can define specific machine requirements.

In this section, detail the resources required for each machine to obtain an accurate estimate of the approximate resource costs.

** Accuracy is crucial here; precise input leads to better cost estimation and enables course managers to locate alternative resources if specific regions are depleted.

 

If the entered details are correct, click Continue to advance to the GPU requirements section.

It is advisable to consult with the trainer to determine the exact needs for the course. Trainers are typically well-informed about the required GPU Vendor and Model to run their sessions. If there is any uncertainty on either side, please leave these fields as "ANY".

Currently, we offer two vendors: AMD & Nvidia.

Regarding models, we provide a list from our current catalogue. If the specific needs of the trainer are unclear, select "ANY" as well.

 

Once you are satisfied with the reservation details, click "Place reservation". This action allocates the necessary funds, activates the reservation, and updates the status on the course page, as illustrated below:

 

If new information regarding required GPUs emerges or changes are needed to an existing reservation, please contact DD support to receive assistance with modifying the GPU reservation request.
